Does a 1997 Toyota Tercel stick shift have transmission fluid that should be checked?
I know this is a dumb question.Does a 1997 Toyota Tercel stick shift have transmission fluid that should be checked?Or any fluid?
My car has 127,000 miles and it has never been checked. How often should it be done and should it be drained then filled or just topped off?Does gear oil get old?

Toyota Camry Parts Offer Only the Best

Glady Reign asked:

Car companies constantly bring wonders to the world with all the advancements they introduce to eager car owners who want nothing but improvement for their vehicles. One of the largest automakers in the world, Toyota Motor Corporation offers vehicles that are made up of reliable parts designed for heavy-duty applications. One of its most popular models and also one of the bestselling cars in automobile history is the Toyota Camry, which was first sold at the United States in 1983. Aside from comprising America’s bestselling car, the assembly of Toyota Camry parts also became the basis for the luxury vehicle Lexus ES300, for the full-size highway cruiser Toyota Avalon, and for the two-door Toyota Solara convertible and coupe.

With its 102 inch wheelbase, the Toyota Camry was relatively huge for a Japanese car. During the time it was introduced, its four-cylinder engine, which produced 92 horsepower, was considerably powerful. It was equipped with five-speed manual transmission or an automatic one and its engine produce a high-pitched sound when revved. People can easily dismiss the capability of Toyota Camry parts, which sported the limited 92 horsepower, but the car can actually outrace bigger and heavier models. Its unbeatable comfort, sound insulation, gas mileage, and reliability are what made the Camry a bestseller.

In a while since its introduction, a second American factory was subsequently built in Georgetown, Kentucky, which became Toyota’s first non-union plant as well as their first plant to be built independently. The first generation Toyota Camry parts assembly which featured a single fuel-injected 2 Liter engine lasted for only four years. With the 115 horsepower boasted by the redesign in 1987, together with reduced noise and vibration and many other developments in the succeeding models in the automobile series, the Toyota Camry became even more popular. Today, it bears the distinction of having been listed by USA Today as one of the cars that made the most significant impact in the American market from 1975 to 2000. Very recently, Motor Trend awarded the 2007 Camry as Car of the Year—a distinction that only attests to the enduring quality of this car which, as Motor Trend says, “…Toyota’s rivals wish they could build.”

Kaye Leery asked:

Japan’s Isuzu Motors Ltd. said Thursday that it is considering a set up in a joint venture to produce diesel engines with Toyota Motor Corp. as part of the tie-up which was announced by the two firms last year.

The truck maker and the world’s number one car maker have been discussing details of their alliance in development and production of diesel engines since they formed the tie-up.

An Isuzu spokesman said that putting up a joint production venture is one option which the two auto makers are looking at. However, they are also considering other options.

The latest comments were aired after Isuzu said last December that building a new diesel engine plant with Toyota was one option. The Isuzu spokesman said that the two auto makers may be open for the details of their alliance by the end of August.

The industry leader in the gasoline-electric hybrid vehicle market, Toyota, is seeking to improve its fuel-efficient and low-emission technologies by tying up with Isuzu, which is a major developer of diesel engines.

With the soaring prices of gas, diesel engines are attracting interest because they are almost 20 percent to 30 percent more fuel efficient than gasoline engines. About 50 percent of the vehicles sold in Europe are powered by diesel.

Aside from making diesel engines for its own vehicles, Isuzu also supplies such engines to U.S. auto titan General Motors Corp. (GM).

Last year, Toyota took a 5.9 percent stake in Isuzu. The team up came after Isuzu dissolved a capital tie-up with GM, which is trying to reorganize its business.

A Toyota spokesman said that the details have not been finalized on the diesel engine joint venture.

More information on Toyota

Toyota Motor Sales (TMS), U.S.A., Inc., announced the one-millionth hybrid sale in July 7 by parent company, Toyota Motor Corporation. Of the one million hybrid sales around the world, over 50 percent have been sold in the United States — 541,210 units from 2000 through April 2007.

In May, TMS posted sales of 36,101 hybrid vehicles, a whopping 102 percent increase over last May. Toyota Division posted sales of 34,174 hybrids, an even more surprising 121 percent increase over the same period last year. Lexus Division posted sales of 1,927 hybrids.

TMS is the maker of quality Toyota oxygen sensors.

Information on Isuzu

Since its first truck was introduced in 1918, Isuzu has been a pioneer in the manufacture of vehicles and engines for industrial and commercial use. Today Isuzu is leading the world in the production of reliable medium-duty trucks and is famous around the world for its expertise in engineering, from diesel engines to pickups to SUVs.

IntelliChoice recognizes Isuzu’s whole 2006 lineup as among the best in their class for low costs.

Isuzu cars will be present in 6 auto shows for this year: Orange County, San Antonio International, Central California, South Florida International, Tampa Bay International, and at the Arizona International.

Kaye Leery asked:

Six Tundras drivers finished in the top-10 at Memphis: Jack Sprague (second), Mike Skinner (fourth), Aaron Fike (fifth), Ryan Mathews (No. 36 Lilly Company/Toyota Industrial Equipment Tundra, sixth), Johnny Benson (No. 23 360 OTC Tundra, seventh) and Todd Bodine (No. 30 Lumber Liquidators Tundra, eighth). Other drivers in the field were Brad Keselowski (16th), Terry Cook (No. 59 Harris Trucking Tundra, 29th) and Ken Butler (No. 00 Aaron’s Lucky Dog Tundra, 33rd).

Keselowski started, for the first of his NCTS career, on the pole in the No. 9 Team ASE Tundra for Germain Racing and led three times for 23 laps. Skinner led 16 laps, and has now led at least one lap in the season’s first 12 races. As a result, he tied the NCTS record for consecutive races led to start a season (Jason Leffler, 2002).

No. 60 Con-way Freight Tundra driver Jack Sprague said that it was a difficult race. He explains that they were horrible but they did a great job with we made some great adjustments. According to him, his truck was a little loose but cooperated by rotating pretty well in the center. He added that they have to give up something at this race track because it is not going to be perfect on both ends.

No. 5 Toyota Tundra diver Mike Skinner said that the truck was very consistent though each set of tires they put on it was a bit different. He considers the recent race as the best run they have ever had in Memphis.

No. 1 RFMS Tundra diver Aaron Fike said that they were looses the whole race but it was their first top-five of the season. He added that they probably should have had a couple top-fives already this year, but they caught a couple bad breaks. He further said that they been in the top-10 in points all year so it is nice to get a good finish and keep the truck up there in points.

No. 9 Team ASE Tundra driver Brad Kaselowski commented that they had a strong truck all night, but it just did not end how they wanted it to. He said that he used everything he had to get to Travis and pass him. Kaselowski caught a little break in traffic to get by Travis. The two got into more traffic and could not get around a couple lapped trucks, and used the rear tires a little too hard and used them up. Though disappointed, Kaselowski was certain that it was the best run he has ever had.

Toyota’s History in America Motorsports

Aside from making quality auto parts such as Toyota Highlander parts, Toyota is also into the world of Motorsports.

Challenges abound as Toyota prepares to face its biggest motorsports test ever in North America when it enters the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup and Busch Series this year.

In 2006, a pair of manufacturer’s championships, a driver’s title and a win in America’s most prestigious sports car race was all a part of the rich motorsports history. Todd Bodine bagged Toyota’s first-ever NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series (NCTS) Driver’s Championship with three victories. Furthermore, Bodine led a sweep of the top six positions by Toyota Tundra drivers to give Toyota its first Manufacturer’s Championship. For the season, Tundra drivers would achieve victory 12 times in the 25-race campaign.

Mike Bartley asked:

General Motors Corp. is increasing production of Chevrolet cars for India and Russia markets as the automaker tries to retain a lead over the Toyota Motor Corp., which is predicted to pass it as the world’s largest automaker this year.

Chevrolet is the top selling and most popular GM brand. It is also the largest brand of the automaker with a current offering of over 20 vehicles and other enhanced versions in its home market. Chevrolet offerings include a wide range of vehicles that covers subcompact cars to commercial trucks. The hot selling models of the Chevrolet brand are the Impala and the Silverado. The latter is the second best-selling pickup truck in the United States.

“Chevrolet cars based on Korean designs helped the automaker pass 2 million units for the first time in Europe and 1 million in Latin America last year,” said GM Vice Chairman Bob. “Since 2001, Chevy sales have increased 158 percent outside North America, making it one of the fastest-growing brands in the world.”

As part of Wagoner’s plan to boost sales and maintain the standing of GM, growth should also be realized in Russia, India and China. The plan is focused on improving sales in 11 emerging-market countries. Since Wagoner took over GM in 2000, the company has risen to first from second in those mentioned countries, which also include Brazil, Indonesia, Mexico, Poland and Turkey.

According to John Middlebrook, the company’s head of global marketing, “GM’s share in emerging markets rose 0.4 percent to 10.9 percent last year, Volkswagen AG was second at 9.3 percent, followed by Toyota at 7.7 percent and Hyundai Motor Co. and its Kia Motors Corp. subsidiary at a combined 5.2 percent.”

“While Chevrolet might not be as recognized globally as Ford or Volkswagen, it is probably the strongest brand in GM’s portfolio,” said John Casesa, the managing partner of Casesa Strategic Advisors LLC. “Right now GM has a first-mover advantage in emerging markets and I’m not so pessimistic that I think it’s inevitable that they lose to Toyota.” Wagoner added that he is not ready to concede that Toyota will overtake GM this year.

Separately, Toyota earlier announced its intention to build Highlanders in the Mississippi new plant. The production of the Highlander in the territory is scheduled to start by the year 2010. The new plant will be employing 2, 000 team members.

Toyota, in conjunction with the government of Mississippi, has chosen a 1,700-acre site in Blue Springs, Mississippi to build its eighth North American vehicle assembly plant. Toyota manufacturing executive Vice Presidents, Gary Convis and Ray Tanguay, joined Governor Governor Haley Barbour at the announcement to help deliver the good news to local citizens.

Governor Barbour said, “We in Mississippi and especially North Mississippi are excited to have been chosen by Toyota as its partner. Toyota is the world’s premiere auto manufacturer and our state will be the best partner the company has.”

Convis addressed Toyota’s challenge in balancing rapid growth while maintaining the company’s superior quality standards in building vehicles. The automaker is famed for its sophisticated technology and cutting edge auto parts that include Toyota hawk brakes and engines. “We are excited for the opportunity to do business in Mississippi and are confident the team members here will have a commitment to perform at the highest possible level,” he said. “Governor Barbour and the regional economic development team were very convincing and unrelenting in their efforts to showcase the area’s advantages,” Convis said, while acknowledging that competition among several states for the new plant was tough.

Tanguay also pointed out several factors that led to Toyota’s site selection decision. “On my visits to Northern Mississippi, I have talked with area companies and observed their workforce,” said Tanguay. “What I observed were people who are educated, ethical and friendly with a strong work ethic – a perfect match for the Toyota Way.” He added that the area’s existing companies had high praise for the workforce. “They were definitely the best sales people.”

Quite simply because a vehicle cannot function without it, the wheel is considered as one of the most important parts of any automobile. Even used as the term to refer to the entire automobile unit, wheels are so basic that a vehicle cannot travel anywhere without it. Toyota service outlets do the job best and, of course, the company’s manufacturing facilities that install the wheels on every new Toyota truck gives the best guarantee on safety and reliability. It is for this renowned excellence that the Toyota Hilux pickup truck was awarded by Motor Trend Magazine as Truck of the Year in 1989. Every Hilux, also known as “the indestructible car,” is equipped with reliable Toyota truck wheels that power up the driving experience. As covered by the popular automotive show Top Gear, these wheels, working with a customized 2005 Hilux, were even the first to reach the magnetic North Pole. There is just no doubt that, with Toyota truck wheels, one is bound to reach places.

Sewious asked:

Besides Toyota offering a superior car to “the big 3″ and charging the same price, they have already put out cars that reveal their dedication to the environment, fuel efficiency, and freedom from oil dependence.

I believe I also read they have even worked towards replacing the materials used within the cars to make them more health friendly. They provide Americans with tons of jobs, and tons of money, and an undoubtedly quality product.

Because of the bailout situation, Toyota is being screwed.

All I know is, don’t pay for your car twice and buy Ford, boycott those traitors and support a company that played by the rules, and legitimately WON.
G6er, I don’t know why people would go out of there way to praise Toyota at the expense of others, really, why would they do this?

Any Fords out there with over 400K miles that haven’t had new engines or transmissions? Just wondering, I haven’t seen it personally.
